The Abiding Image: Crafting Poetry from your Life
Women and men are invited to explore the art and craft of poetry with nationally-known poet and teacher and North Carolina Poet Laureate Cathy Smith Bowers. Co-sponsored by Cincinnati Writers Project, Dos Madres Press, Greater Cincinnati Writers League, InkTank.
The Abiding Image Workshop, held Saturday, July 10 from 9:00-1:00 pm, provides guidance in using life material to create poetry. Participants will explore a variety of ways to tap into abiding images from our own experience and to expand and craft those images into vibrant and moving poems.
Cathy Smith Bowers is a widely published poet recently named Poet laureate of the state of North Carolina. Her books include The Candle I Hold Up to See You, Traveling in Time of Danger and A Book of Minutes. She teaches in the MFA program in Creative Writing at Queens University of Charlotte. Grailville Co-Director Pauletta Hansel is a poet, teacher and author of Divining and First Person.

The Abiding Image Workshop open to men and women is held July 10, from 9 am-1 pm. Tuition is $40, including lunch. Scholarships may be available. 5% discount for single registration received by June 12, 2010.
